Trail of Light is a beautiful animated short originally created for the 2024 Berlin International Film Scoring Competition. Based on a Native American creation myth from the Pawnee people, the film explores themes of birth, transformation, and spiritual light.
I was instantly drawn to the animation — within minutes of watching, I had a Quena flute in hand and started sketching ideas. This rescore became a rare and personal piece where I performed the Quena live, layered my own voice, and leaned into the organic qualities of the film. I also used it as an excuse to test out two stunning libraries: Benjamin Wallfisch Strings and Strezov’s Afflatus Strings, both of which played a key role in building the cinematic bed.
While I don’t usually include rescores in my portfolio, this one felt different — more like a short meditative film than a competition piece. And it gave me space to explore subtlety, space, and tone in a way that felt deeply satisfying.
