Great for a rainy day in Cheltenham. The Wilson is a museum and gallery with various exhibitions but the star of the show if you’ve got busy little people is the play cafe. Free to use (well apart from what you buy).

There’s a good selection of paper, crayons, pencils, pens etc. and loads of books and reading nooks including book boats you can sit in and read.

Then you’ve got the giant blocks to build things with and the epic lego wall!

The café sells hot and cold drinks, pastries, cakes, snacks, breakfast and lunch and the museum is cool to look around, even for very little ones.

Worth knowing

  • World of Wonders is a hands-on children's gallery: touch, play, sing and dance, with a penguin in a tunnel and a boneshaker bike in the sky
  • Art caddies for families to borrow
  • Step-free access
  • The Wilson Kitchen café is on the ground floor, with a PLAY area: building blocks and a reading corner
  • Parts of the building have been under renovation, so check what's open before you go
