Little Hedgehogs Play Garden
Best for Under-5s who love getting stuck in outdoors
Top tip Book as soon as new sessions go up: the Saturday campfire sessions and the holiday specials sell out fast.
The first time I took E to Little Hedgehogs, she was tiny, but she walked through the gate and said “WOOOOWWW!”
It's a dedicated play garden packed with toys, activities and things to explore and get stuck into, like role play and outdoor kitchen fun, complete with foam, scented coloured liquids to mix and lots of squeezy bottles for your budding perfume maker (or mixologist).
There's also a sand play area and gardening. You might even get to sit at one of the picnic tables or hay bales long enough to enjoy a coffee from the little refreshments shack (which also has Fruit Shoots and cupcakes, in case that's important).
They open for pre-booked sessions and the slots vary, so you'll need to look at the booking website to see when they're on. There are also regular special events for Christmas, Halloween and Easter, which often include a treasure hunt, marshmallow toasting and, at Christmas time, a special visitor. These are always great fun, but you have to be quick to book.
The whole garden is fenced in, with one way in and out, which is monitored and latched so only grown-ups can open it.
