House in the Tree
Top tip Arrive early on school holidays and weekends. There's no booking outside so it's first come, first served.
Most people in the area know about the House in the Tree, especially if you have kids. This has to be one the best pub garden experience for families you’ll find in the area.
As well as the big play area (recently upgraded), there’s a smaller toddler section with playhouses, and a little swing set.
They have a garden hatch where you can order your food without going inside, it gets very busy, but everything runs like a well oiled machine which is no mean feat.
They also have an animal area where you can meet the pub’s pet pigs, chickens, goats and guinea pigs. Amusingly the old climbing frame from the play area that has just been replaced has been repurposed for the goats!
Play for everyone from baby to school aged, and animals to visit, along with great tasting grub… What more could you want from a pub visit? One of our go to pub gardens for a treat.
The curry specials are delicious – some specials are only available inside but there’s always been something for everyone on the beer garden menu.
Tables in the garden are first come first served, you can book a table inside, and you usually need to book in advance.
We’ve been for both a pub meal and play, and also just for a quick drink and a look at the animals (did this once as a little cheer up diversion after jabs at the doctors).
The owners and staff are friendly, love kids, and remain chatty and warm even when they are clearly being run off their feet, dealing with a fully booked pub and a packed beer garden.
