This page explains what personal information stuartfoxmusic.com collects, why, and what you can do about it. It's written to be read, not to be survived — if anything here is unclear, just ask.

Under UK data protection law, FoxMultimedia Ltd is the "data controller" for this site — meaning the company decides what's collected and why, and is accountable for it. This policy is written in the first person for readability; "I" and "we" both mean FoxMultimedia Ltd.
If you use the contact form, I collect what you type into it — typically your name, email address, and your message [ADJUST: add phone, company, subject, or any other fields your form actually has].
Why: so I can read your enquiry and reply to it. Nothing else. You won't be added to a mailing list, and I won't pass your details on.
Where it goes: the message is emailed to me [DELETE IF NOT TRUE: and a copy is stored in the website's database]. [CHECK: does your form plugin store submissions? Contact Form 7 doesn't by default; WPForms, Gravity Forms and Fluent Forms do.]
Lawful basis: legitimate interests — you've contacted me and expect a reply — and, where the enquiry is about working together, taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.
How long I keep it: enquiry emails are kept for as long as they're useful for the working relationship, and reviewed periodically. Ones that don't lead anywhere are deleted within 24 MONTHS.
Where an enquiry turns into a working relationship, the resulting records (contracts, invoices, correspondence) form part of the company's business and accounting records, which must be kept for six years from the end of the financial year they relate to, as required by company and tax law.
Like virtually every website, the server this site runs on keeps automatic technical logs of requests — typically including IP address, the page requested, the time, and browser/device type.
Why: security, diagnosing faults, and keeping the site running. I don't use these logs to analyse visitors, and I don't connect them to anything else.
Who holds them: my web host Zume, as part of running the server.
Lawful basis: legitimate interests — keeping the site secure and working.
How long: logs are kept for a short period on a rolling basis and then overwritten by the host, typically around 30 days.
A cookie is a small file a website stores on your device. This site's own features don't set tracking or advertising cookies.

Some pages embed video from YouTube and/or Vimeo. When one of these players loads, the provider can set cookies on your device and receive technical information about your visit — including your IP address — under their privacy policy, not mine. I have no control over, and no access to, what they collect.
Videos I host myself are served from this site and set no cookies.
This site loads the Inter typeface from Google Fonts. This means your browser requests the font file from Google's servers, and Google receives your IP address in the process.
I use a small number of service providers ("processors") to run the site. They only process data on my instructions:
I don't sell, rent or trade personal information, and I don't share it for anyone else's marketing.
Some of the services above may process information outside the UK. Where that happens, it's covered by safeguards recognised under UK data protection law (such as the UK's International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, or an adequacy decision).
Embedded video providers (YouTube/Vimeo) operate internationally and transfer data under their own arrangements.
